По данным журналиста, грядущее обновление станет первым крупным редизайном MacBook Pro с 2021 года. Помимо перехода с мини-LED на OLED-дисплей и добавления функции касания, новинки получат более тонкий корпус, возможную поддержку мобильной связи 5G, а также изменённый вырез в экране, который станет больше похож на Dynamic Island, чем на текущую «чёлку».
Гурман охарактеризовал большинство предстоящих обновлений линейки Mac как эволюционные, а не революционные, отметив при этом два устройства, которые всё же станут значительным шагом вперёд. Одним из них как раз является обновлённый MacBook Pro с чипами M6 Pro и M6 Max, OLED-экраном, более тонким корпусом и сенсорной поддержкой. Журналист уточнил, что в первой половине 2026 года Apple выпустит MacBook Pro с чипами M5 Pro и M5 Max, а также MacBook Air на базе чипа M5. Во второй половине года появятся обновлённые Mac mini с M5 и M5 Pro, а также Mac Studio с M5 Max и M5 Ultra. Лишь к концу года состоится дебют чипа M6 и новой младшей 14-дюймовой модели MacBook Pro, которая сохранит текущий дизайн.
Интересно, что подход, при котором базовая модель не получает всех визуальных и функциональных обновлений флагманов, Apple уже использовала ранее — например, с сенсорной панелью Touch Bar в 13-дюймовом MacBook Pro. Таким образом, покупателям, которые хотели бы получить OLED-экран и обновлённый дизайн, придётся выбирать только топовые конфигурации MacBook Pro.
